Nikah invitation wording in English, with examples
Updated 2026-10-15
A Nikah invitation usually follows the same order: a blessing, the hosts (normally the parents), the couple's names, the event, then date, time and venue. Keep it short. On a phone screen, guests read the names and the date first, so give those the most space.
The usual order of a Nikah card
- Opening blessing: Bismillah, often in Arabic with the English meaning below.
- Hosts: “Mr. & Mrs. Mohammed Arif Siddiqui request the pleasure of your company…”
- Names: the bride's and groom's names, with “daughter of” / “son of” lines if you like.
- Event: “at the Nikah ceremony of”.
- Date, time and venue, with the full address or a Google Maps link sent in the same WhatsApp message.
- RSVP name and phone number.

Sending your Nikah invitation on WhatsApp
Most invitations now go out on WhatsApp. Send the card image first, then a short personal line (“Assalamu alaikum Khala, we would love you to be there”) and the venue location pin in a separate message so it opens straight in Maps. Elders appreciate a phone call as well as the message. Our guide on sending a wedding e-invite on WhatsApp has more tips, and for the dinner card see Walima invitation wording.
